For More Information

What is the adult previous diagnosis requiring medication pathway?
This pathway is for adults who already have a confirmed ADHD diagnosis and now need specialist support with medication. It is designed for patients who do not need a full new assessment but do need safe, structured prescribing and follow-up care.
This service is suitable for adults who already have a formal ADHD diagnosis from an NHS or private provider and would like to explore starting medication, restarting medication, or reviewing their current treatment. It can also be helpful for those who are finding it difficult to access timely follow-up support elsewhere.
Yes. Before this appointment type can be booked, your existing ADHD diagnostic report must first be reviewed. This is to make sure the documentation meets the standards required for safe prescribing.
If your report is unclear, incomplete or does not meet the required prescribing standards, we will explain your options. In some cases, this may mean an updated assessment or a full new assessment is needed before medication can be prescribed.
No. This pathway focuses on medication management for adults who already have a confirmed diagnosis. It is not intended to replace a full diagnostic assessment.
All medication decisions are made by a consultant psychiatrist with extensive ADHD experience. Treatment is discussed with you during an online consultation, with careful consideration of your symptoms, medical history, current health and any other medications you may be taking.
The pathway usually includes a review of your existing diagnostic report, an initial online consultation, and a personalised treatment plan. Where clinically appropriate, this may also include a private prescription, medication titration and follow-up appointments to monitor benefits, side effects and dose adjustments.
The initial online medication consultation lasts 45 minutes. This allows the consultant psychiatrist to review your previous diagnosis, discuss your current symptoms and medical history, and consider whether medication is clinically appropriate.
Most adults need around two to four follow-up appointments after the initial consultation to help find the right medication and dose. The exact number will depend on how you respond to treatment and how quickly things become stable.
No. The consultation fee includes the clinician’s time and the issuing of a private prescription where appropriate, but the cost of the medication itself is separate. Medication is dispensed and paid for directly through the clinic’s pharmacy partner.
Yes. Medication can be dispensed by the clinic’s UK pharmacy partner and delivered to addresses within the UK. Delivery arrangements and medication costs are handled directly with the pharmacy.
Shared care may be possible once your medication is stable, but you should always check with your GP before starting treatment if shared care is important to you. There is no national policy on shared care, and decisions are made locally by individual GP practices and healthcare boards. More than half of our shared care agreements are accepted by NHS GPs, as our medication pathway is managed by consultant psychiatrists. Final approval, however, always rests with your GP.
Yes. Further follow-up appointments are available if your circumstances change or if you need additional support with your treatment. This may include reviewing medication, adjusting your plan or providing updated letters for your GP or other professionals.
Yes. All appointments in this pathway are delivered online. This makes it easier to access specialist medication support around work, study and daily life, without the need to travel.
Yes. Self-referrals are welcome. Before booking, your diagnostic report will need to be reviewed so the team can confirm whether this pathway is appropriate for you.
