At ADHD Health Clinic, our consultant psychiatrists provide structured psychiatric assessments for adults who want a clearer understanding of their mental health and practical recommendations for next steps. Appointments are available online and in person, offering timely access to experienced clinicians in a calm, confidential setting.
A psychiatric assessment can help if you are experiencing symptoms such as low mood, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, trauma-related symptoms, emotional instability, sleep difficulties, or changes in thinking, behaviour or functioning
A general psychiatry assessment is a specialist medical appointment with a psychiatrist. It is designed to understand your symptoms, personal history, current difficulties and any wider factors that may be affecting your mental health.
The aim is to build a clear clinical picture, consider possible diagnoses, and recommend appropriate treatment or support. This may include medication, psychological therapy, lifestyle considerations, further assessment, or liaison with your GP or another healthcare professional where appropriate.
Unlike a short GP appointment, a psychiatric initial assessment gives more time to explore what has been happening and how it is affecting your day-to-day life.
You do not need to know exactly what diagnosis you may have before booking. Many people attend because they know something is not right, but they are unsure whether their symptoms fit anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, autism, trauma-related difficulties, or another mental health condition.
Our general psychiatry assessments can help adults with a range of mental health concerns, including:
Private psychiatric assessment for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, mood changes, OCD, PTSD or unclear mental health symptoms.
ADHD Health Clinic offers both online and in-person psychiatric initial assessments for adults.
An online psychiatric assessment may be suitable if you prefer the privacy and convenience of attending from home. It can be particularly helpful if travel is difficult, appointments need to fit around work or family life, or you feel more comfortable speaking from a familiar environment.
An in-person psychiatric assessment may be preferred if you would value a face-to-face appointment, have more complex needs, or feel that attending clinic would help you engage more comfortably with the assessment.
Both routes are designed to provide a structured review of your symptoms, history and current circumstances, followed by clear recommendations.
After your assessment, your psychiatrist will explain their clinical view and discuss recommended next steps. This may include a diagnosis, treatment recommendations, medication options, psychological therapy, further assessment, or practical support.
Where appropriate, and with your consent, recommendations can be shared with your GP or other healthcare providers.
The purpose of the appointment is not only to provide a diagnosis where one is appropriate, but to help you understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and what can be done next.
