Vignesh Vyas Bio

Vignesh Vyas is an experienced Occupational Therapist with more than 14 years of practice across NHS and Social Care services, working in a range of clinical and leadership roles. With specialist expertise in mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions – including ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and personality disorders – he adopts a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach that helps individuals achieve meaningful and sustainable outcomes.

Vignesh holds an MSc in Occupational Therapy from the University of East Anglia (2019) and an MA in Film Production from Staffordshire University (2016), bringing together clinical practice and creative innovation. He is trained in Solution-Focused Therapy (Level 2, APT) and has completed Autism assessments – ADOS-2 Training through Hogrefe, along with ADHD assessment and diagnostic training through UKAAN.

A distinctive aspect of Vignesh’s work is the development of Therapeutic Filmmaking – an innovative methodology that integrates occupational therapy principles with filmmaking to promote life skills, personal growth, and recovery. This pioneering approach has received national and international recognition, including the Behind-the-Scenes Champion Award at the InsideOut Awards (2024), Highly Commended recognition at the HSJ Patient Safety Awards (2022), and the President’s Prize from the Association of Medical Humanities (Ireland) for his research (2021).

As an active contributor to the profession, Vignesh has presented his work at international conferences and continues to contribute to the growing evidence base for creative and trauma-informed practice. His book chapter on Post-Traumatic Growth, published in January 2026, explores the transformative potential of creativity, recovery and discovery. Building on this work, Vignesh delivered a TEDx talk in Edinburgh in June 2026 on Therapeutic Filmmaking, sharing his insights on resilience, growth, and the role of creative approaches in fostering meaningful change.
