Dr Miriana Vrajitoriu

Dr Miriana Vrajitoriu Bio

Dr Vrajitoriu is a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist with over 20 years’ experience in psychiatry, including 15 years at consultant level in the UK. She has worked across both the NHS and private sector, with extensive inpatient and community CAMHS experience.

She is highly experienced in independent ADHD and autism (ASD) assessments for children and young people, including complex diagnostic evaluations. She is ADOS-2 and ADI-R trained, and regularly supports young people presenting with ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, tics and Tourette’s syndrome, and more complex neurodevelopmental profiles.

Until December 2024, Dr Vrajitoriu was an NHS Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist within South West Yorkshire NHS Foundation Trust, based in Kirklees CAMHS. During this time she held senior leadership responsibilities, serving as Medical Lead for the Neurodevelopmental Pathway and as the Trust Nominated Safeguarding Doctor. These roles involved providing clinical leadership at Trust level, supporting statutory safeguarding responsibilities, and helping to shape high-quality services and pathways for children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

As Neurodevelopmental Pathway Lead, Dr Vrajitoriu played a central role in developing ADHD and autism services, supervising ADHD nurse prescribers and medical colleagues, and ensuring NICE-aligned, evidence-based, patient-centred pathways. From January 2025, she stepped down from NHS work to focus on private practice, including developing the clinical side of an independent neurodevelopmental assessment service for children and young people.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Vrajitoriu has also undertaken medico-legal psychiatric work over the years. Her specialist training includes experience at CNDS Newcastle, a national second-opinion autism service, and previous work as an Associate Specialist in a low-secure inpatient unit for young people with learning disabilities.

Dr Vrajitoriu works in partnership with young people, parents and carers to develop practical, evidence-based care plans, and can provide advice and appropriate support to professionals in the wider network around the child or young person. She is passionate about working systemically with families and schools, and is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for the young people she supports
