Why Choose ADHD Health Clinic for Your Combined Assessment?

Our combined Autism + ADHD assessments are led by consultant psychiatrists with extensive expertise in both conditions and their overlap. Each assessment is guided by NICE standards, ensuring a thorough and clinically reliable process tailored for adults.

Every assessment is conducted online for your convenience and privacy, and includes pre-assessment forms to help us understand your history, experiences and current challenges. The consultation itself lasts two hours and is followed by a detailed diagnostic report, offering clear conclusions and practical recommendations.

For many adults, understanding whether they have autism, ADHD, or both brings transformative clarity. This combined approach can reduce the need for multiple separate assessments, helping you move forward more quickly with the right treatment and support. Our goal is to provide clarity, compassion and confidence as you take this important step.

“Dr Achuthan was absolutely brilliant. I was really anxious for my appointment and he made me feel at ease by walking me through the assessment and explaining questions in a way that I could fully understand. The assessment did not feel rushed, I felt like he was completely present and attentive and cared about my experiences. He was the best doctor I have ever had the pleasure of talking to. At the age of 28, I finally felt listened to and understood about the difficulties I have faced my whole life. I received clear guidance regarding any aftercare I may need post diagnosis, including relevant support and potential therapy. My overall experience has been a very positive one. Thank you so much for everything.”

For More Information

What is a combined adult ADHD and autism assessment?
A combined adult ADHD and autism assessment is a detailed evaluation that looks at whether you meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD, autism, or both. It is designed to give you a joined-up understanding of your neurodivergent profile, including how both conditions may affect your work, study, relationships and day-to-day life.
This assessment is suitable for adults who recognise traits of both ADHD and autism, or who feel it is unclear which diagnosis best explains their experiences. It can be especially helpful where there are overlapping difficulties with focus, organisation, sensory processing, social communication and emotional regulation.
Assessments are carried out by experienced neurodevelopmental clinicians with expertise in both ADHD and autism. The assessment process follows recognised diagnostic standards and considers your presentation carefully and thoroughly.
The online assessment is a structured process rather than a single checklist or questionnaire. It may include a developmental and life-history interview, self-report questionnaires, supporting information from someone who knows you well where available, and a review of any relevant background information.
The online combined adult ADHD and autism assessment includes a 2-hour appointment, together with 30 minutes of pre-assessment form review and 1 hour for writing the diagnostic report.
A combined assessment allows clinicians to look at ADHD and autism together in one pathway. This can provide a clearer and more complete picture of how your traits overlap and interact, rather than separating your experiences across two different assessments.
Yes. The assessment looks at your developmental history as well as your current experiences. This may include school, work, relationships, routines, sensory experiences, communication, emotional regulation and everyday functioning.
No. Questionnaires are only one part of the process. Your clinician will also carry out a detailed interview and consider your wider history, current presentation and any co-occurring difficulties before reaching any conclusions.
The assessment looks at areas such as attention, impulsivity, organisation, social communication, flexibility of thinking, sensory processing, emotional regulation and daily functioning. It may also consider whether other factors, such as anxiety, depression, trauma or burnout, could be relevant.
After the assessment, you will receive a comprehensive report explaining whether you meet the criteria for ADHD, autism, both, or neither. The report is designed to be clear and practical, helping you understand how your profile may affect different areas of life.
Yes. The report can support conversations with employers, universities and other services about reasonable adjustments and practical support. It may help explain how ADHD and autism affect focus, organisation, communication, sensory demands and everyday performance.
Yes. The report includes practical recommendations tailored to your needs. These may relate to work, study, daily life and wider support, so you have clearer guidance on possible next steps.
Yes. If ADHD is diagnosed and medication is considered clinically appropriate, medication options can be discussed with a consultant psychiatrist. This includes considering benefits, possible side effects, monitoring and how treatment may fit alongside non-medication strategies and autism-informed support.
Shared care may be possible once your ADHD medication is stable, but you should always check with your GP before starting treatment if shared care is important to you. There is no national policy on shared care, and decisions are made locally by individual GP practices and healthcare boards. More than half of our shared care agreements are accepted by NHS GPs, as our medication pathway is managed by consultant psychiatrists. Final approval, however, always rests with your GP.
The assessment carefully considers whether other factors may also be relevant, such as anxiety, depression, trauma or burnout. Where appropriate, further assessment or support may be recommended to help build a fuller picture.
Yes. Follow-up appointments can help you understand the outcome of the assessment, think through next steps, discuss support options and, where relevant, review medication or wider treatment plans.
Yes. Online appointments can be a helpful option for adults who would prefer to avoid travel or would like an assessment that fits more easily around work, study or daily commitments.
Yes.
Yes. ADHD Health Clinic is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This means the clinic is required to meet established standards for safety, quality of care and clinical governance in England.
