For More Information

What is the child previous diagnosis requiring medication pathway?
This pathway is for children and young people who already have a confirmed ADHD diagnosis and now need specialist support with medication. It is designed for families who do not need a full new assessment but do need safe, structured prescribing and ongoing follow-up care.
This service is suitable for children and young people who already have a formal ADHD diagnosis from an NHS or private provider and may need help starting medication, restarting medication or reviewing their current treatment. It can also be helpful where families are struggling to access timely specialist follow-up support.
Yes. Before this appointment type can be booked, the existing ADHD diagnostic report must first be reviewed. This is to make sure the documentation meets the standards required for safe prescribing.
If the report is unclear, incomplete or does not meet the required prescribing standards, the team will explain the available options. In some cases, this may mean an updated assessment or a full new assessment is needed before medication can be prescribed.
No. This pathway is for children and young people who already have an established ADHD diagnosis. It is focused on medication management rather than carrying out a new diagnostic assessment.
All medication decisions are made by a consultant psychiatrist with extensive ADHD experience. Treatment is considered carefully during an online consultation, taking into account the child’s symptoms, medical history, current health and any other relevant factors.
The pathway usually includes a review of the existing diagnostic report, an initial online consultation, and a personalised treatment plan. Where clinically appropriate, this may also include a private prescription, medication titration and follow-up appointments to monitor progress, side effects and dose adjustments.
Many children and young people need around two to four follow-up appointments after the initial consultation to help find the most suitable medication and dose. The exact number will depend on how treatment is tolerated and how quickly things become stable.
No. The consultation fee includes the clinician’s time and the issuing of a private prescription where appropriate, but the cost of the medication itself is separate. Medication is dispensed and paid for directly through the clinic’s pharmacy partner.
Yes. Medication can be dispensed by the clinic’s UK pharmacy partner and delivered to addresses within the UK. Delivery arrangements and medication costs are handled directly with the pharmacy.
In many cases, the aim is to move to shared care once the child’s medication is stable and effective. Clear documentation can be provided for the NHS GP, including treatment summaries, titration details and a shared care request. However, the final decision always rests with the GP and local NHS policy.
Yes. Further follow-up appointments are available if the child’s needs change or if additional support is required. This may include reviewing medication, adjusting the treatment plan or providing updated letters for the GP or other professionals involved in the child’s care.
Yes. All appointments in this pathway are delivered online. This can make it easier for families to access specialist medication support without the added stress and time involved in travelling to appointments.
Yes. Parents and carers can enquire about this service on behalf of their child. Before booking, the child’s diagnostic report will need to be reviewed so the team can confirm whether this pathway is appropriate.
